After two years of depending on donors and well-wishers we decided that it is time we generate our own income and find ways to support our projects through social enterprises. Since we have been lucky enough to have a few acres of land donated to us, we thought the best idea would be to establish a farm and who better to help us in this endeavour than Amiran? They offer a farmers kit which includes all of the components necessary for a successful season’s harvest.
This kit incorporates innovative agricultural technologies including the Family Drip System (FDS), an easy to use gravity based drip irrigation system, a greenhouse and top quality agro-inputs such as Seeds, Fertilizers and Agro-Chemicals. It comes complete with installation, training and an agro-support package throughout the season to ensure the best results.
The cost of this Kit is $2,000 and we are asking all wish-wishers to help us raise the funds for this. We believe that it’s wiser to donate to a project that will help us become self- sufficient than anything else, this way we will be able to reduce dependence on donors and make our project survive through the income we generate from our farm.
How? Well if we raise this money and purchase this kit, after just three months we will be have enough produce to feed the boys from our centre so immediately we are reducing our food expenses; but the main idea behind this project is to sell our fresh produce to the community and bigger markets like grocery stores.
We have also identified that many local market stall holders that sell vegetables travel far to get their stock and since we are only kilometres away from the market, the local stall holders, a majority being women who have to tend to their young ones at the same time as running the stalls would then be able to save time and money on travel costs if they purchase from us and to state the obvious we will also be contributing to the overall capacity of food production in the country at large.
But the most rewarding part of this project is that since we will be generating extra income it will give us the chance to effectively raise the quality of the life of the boys that we have at the Centre and those that will follow them.
We want to be able to give them that opportunity.
