Urgent Appeal for Somali refugees

Hundreds of thousands of refugees are fleeing Somalia due to severe drought and arriving in what has become the world’s largest refugee camp. The Dadaab refugee camp, just over the border in Kenya, was initially setup to host some 90,000 refugees fleeing Somalia’s ongoing civil war in March, 2009. Today, the number of refugees is estimated at over 350,000 with thousands more expected in the coming weeks. The UN is calling it ‘The worst humanitarian ciris in the world”. LocalAid wants to help.

Our team will be visiting the camp, accompanied by Dr.Mohamud Sheikh from our partner organisation Harda.

We will also be distributing food outside the camp to reach the people that have walked for weeks, so they have a better chance of making it to the camps.

So many have died, children been left behind by mothers only in hope that they reach their other child to safety. Please donate, it doesn’t have to be this way. Their lives are in our hands now.

Urgent Appeal for Somali refugees

The refugees must wait 40 days before being officially registered by the UNHCR and receiving a ration card entitling them to the regular food distributions. During this period they will only receive a two-day food ration and a five liter plastic container to keep water in. It is due to this dire situation that we are urging you to help us extend a helping hand to our brothers and sisters in need. Many have lost their lives but with your donation this situation can change.Your donation will go a long way into helping thousands of our fellow human beings from Somalia.
